A single storey rundown shack on an otherwise good road in Clapham was replaced with a modern town house via a process of negotiation with the local planers. Initial application submissions adopted a more traditional pitch roof form but in discussion the planners a more contemporary proposal that would deliver a better quality of living space. This solution also allowed a more tailored adjustment of the building form to work with the neighbouring houses and roof lines.

The Footprint of the house is relatively small and spread over four floors including a basement. Through the introduction of setbacks, light wells and frosted panels to stair cores the design achieved greater sense of light and space that ultimately translated to greater sales value. The process involved sunlight and daylight analysis to prove the effects on neighbours would be acceptable.
